1. Internet Assistant Version 2.0 for Microsoft Word for Windows 95 Now Available

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 14, 1996 — Microsoft Corp. recently announced the availability in final form of Microsoft® Internet Assistant version 2.0, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Word home page (http://www.microsoft.com/msword). Microsoft Internet Assistant 2.0 for Microsoft Word for the Windows®
95 operating system is the latest version of Microsoft Word’s no-cost hypertext markup language (HTML) authoring tool add-in. Microsoft Internet Assistant allows users to create and edit Word documents and HTML documents for both the Internet and intranets from within Microsoft Word – making it easy for Word users to create Web pages without having to learn a new program or how to write in HTML. Microsoft Internet Assistant 2.0 provides users with an interface for inserting hyperlinks, images and forms into documents. It supports all the latest Internet Explorer HTML tags, such as marquee text, in-line video and background sound, and allows users to convert graphics into GIF format automatically.

Microsoft Internet Assistant is currently highlighted on Microsoft’s new World Wide Web site, Microsoft Small Business Resource (http://www.microsoft.com/smallbiz), which is devoted to helping small businesses learn more about evaluating and using technology to create advantages for their business. The February content emphasizes how users can utilize the Internet in their business. The Web site contains information on ways businesses can use Internet Assistant to enhance their marketing and sales efforts, and features case studies, fact sheets and links for downloading all Microsoft Office Internet tools.

2. Microsoft Responds to Home Businesses and Small Businesses

REDMOND, Wash. – Feb. 14, 1996
Microsoft Corp. today announced two new product offerings for home businesses and small businesses: specially priced packaging of its best-selling Microsoft® Office applications for the Windows® 95 operating system, Publisher for Windows 95 and Bookshelf®
95.

The first product, the Microsoft Home & Small Business Value Pack, was created as an answer to small-business requests for solutions that allow them to increase productivity and efficiency, and save money. It includes Word for Windows 95; Microsoft Excel for
Windows 95, the leading spreadsheet package on the market today; Publisher CD Deluxe for Windows 95; and Bookshelf for Windows 95.

The second product, the Word & Publisher Value Pack, includes Microsoft Word for Windows 95, the leading choice for fast and easy word processing, and Publisher CD Deluxe for Windows 95, the small-business solution for creating distinctive collateral quickly and affordably.

Microsoft research has shown that after the core Office family of applications, Publisher
and the Bookshelf CD-ROM reference library were the two most frequently requested products for businesses. The Value Packs will be the easiest way for small- and home-business users to get professional-looking results, thus remaining competitive in an ever-changing business climate.

The Word & Publisher Value Pack costs approximately $129, and the Home & Small Business Value Pack costs approximately $249. Existing customers of Microsoft Excel, Word or Office are eligible for a $40 in-box mail-in. Both products are scheduled to be available on CD only, for a limited time at the end of February.
