Jonathan Lazarus, Vice President Of Strategic Relations at Microsoft, to Retire

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 26, 1996 — Jonathan D. Lazarus, vice president of strategic relations at Microsoft Corp., announced today that he has decided to retire from his position, effective June 30, 1996. Lazarus, 44, said he plans to spend more time with his family as well as explore new projects within the computer and entertainment industries.

“Throughout his 10 years with Microsoft, Jon has made many incredible contributions across the company and has been a key member of my executive staff,”
said Bill Gates, Microsoft chairman and CEO.
“His marketing efforts in the areas of developer relations, systems marketing and, most recently, education have earned him a reputation for excellence.”

Lazarus joined Microsoft in 1986 as director of the systems strategy group and publisher of the Microsoft Systems Journal. During his career in systems marketing, he was promoted to vice president and was responsible for the marketing introduction of the Windows®
platform and other significant products, including the launch of the Microsoft Developer Network. More recently, Lazarus has directed Microsoft’s education marketing programs.
