Microsoft Declares Regular Quarterly Dividend on Preferred Shares

Redmond, Washington, May 15, 1997 — Microsoft Corporation announced that it has declared a dividend of $0.549 per share to holders of record on June 1, 1997 of its 2-3/4% Convertible Exchangeable Principal-Protected Preferred Shares, Series A. The dividend will be paid on June 15, 1997.

In December 1996, Microsoft issued $1 billion of Convertible Exchangeable Principal-Protected Preferred Shares. It was announced at that time that the proceeds were expected to be used to repurchase common shares and for general corporate purposes.
