Egghead and Microsoft Sponsor Kids Safety Days in June

REDMOND, Wash., and LIBERTY LAKE, Wash., May 29, 1997 — In anticipation of summer break, Egghead Software and Microsoft Corp. are teaming up to help parents everywhere keep their kids’ summers safe. On Saturday, June 7 and 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Egghead will host Kids Safety Days at their retail locations across the country. Families will get fun tips for safe summer adventures, and kids will have the opportunity to make a laminated, picture safety ID card using Microsoft® Publisher 97 and a digital camera.

“A current, accurate photo is the single best tool parents can provide to police searching for a missing child,”
said David Shapiro, director of marketing at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“Egghead’s Kids Safety Days is a great way for families to pick up important safety pointers.”

In addition to their ID card, kids will receive a certificate of safety recognition that includes a list of safety steps kids need to follow to have a safe and happy summer. Families can also take advantage of special in-store promotions, such as a $5 gift certificate redeemable on any kids’ educational title acquired the day of the event. A Microsoft representative will be present at each of the retail locations to demonstrate the newest Microsoft computer software for kids. If families get two titles from Scholastic’s The Magic School Bus
™
CD-ROM series of interactive science adventures by Microsoft, including the latest title, Scholastic’s The Magic

School Bus Explores the Rainforest, they will receive a third Microsoft kids’ title free*. And if families obtain one Microsoft kids’ title, they will receive an explorer’s kit with a fanny pack of tools for their summer adventures.
