Microsoft and Knowledge Management World Magazine Present Industry Solution Awards for Document Management Systems At Knowledge Management Expo

CHICAGO, Oct. 20, 1997 — Microsoft Corp. and Knowledge Management World Magazine (KM World) today presented the 1997 Industry Solution Awards (ISAs) in Document Management Systems to PC Docs Inc., TMSSequoia, Action Technologies Inc. and Ultimus Inc. The awards were presented by Andy Moore, editor in chief and co-publisher of KM World, and Richard Noffsinger, group marketing manager for document management, imaging and workflow at Microsoft, during a ceremony at the Knowledge Management Expo, which concludes today.

“As the document management industry redefines itself to encompass technologies across a number of industries, Microsoft will play a strong role in providing software developers with tools and support for architecting solutions,” Moore said. “The Industry Solution Awards demonstrate the commitment that Microsoft has for providing a platform that software developers can build upon for the ultimate benefit of their customers.”

The annual ISAs in Document Management Systems recognize the document management, imaging and workflow software vendors that best use Microsoft® technology, specifically the Windows NT® Server operating system and the BackOffice® family of products. Participants were tested on a range of measurable business benefits in managing volumes of information and asked to demonstrate that their application offers the best features and functionality.

“The winning solutions from PC DOCS, TMSSequoia, Action Technologies and Ultimus really showcase the power and flexibility of Microsoft technology,” Noffsinger said. “Software vendors who develop solutions with Windows NT and BackOffice take advantage of a uniquely integrated platform, a clear benefit for their customers who require scalable and interoperable solutions.”

Following are the winners in the four ISA categories specific to Document Management Systems.
