Microsoft Declares Regular Quarterly Dividend on Preferred Shares

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 18, 1997 — Microsoft Corp. today announced it has declared a dividend of $0.549 per share of its 2-3/4 percent Convertible Exchangeable Principal-Protected Preferred Shares, Series A, to holders of record on Dec. 1, 1997. The dividend will be paid on Dec. 15, 1997.

In December 1996, Microsoft issued $1 billion of Convertible Exchangeable Principal-Protected Preferred Shares. It was announced at that time that the proceeds were expected to be used to repurchase common shares and for general corporate purposes.
