REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 9, 1997 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that The Microsoft® Plaza (http://www.plaza.MSN.com/) is sponsoring a holiday sweepstakes through Jan. 15, 1998. The Click and Fly Away Sweepstakes will allow visitors to The Microsoft Plaza to register to win ClickPoints redeemable for a variety of rewards, including frequent flier miles, hotel and car rental discounts, and selected merchandise. A total of 1.1 million ClickPoints will be awarded.

More than 20 of the nation’s favorite retailers, including, Barnes & Noble, Eddie Bauer, 1-800-FLOWERS and NECX, comprise The Microsoft Plaza’s growing list of merchants. “Consumers have tremendously busy schedules during the holiday season,” said Deborah Levinger, business manager, The Microsoft Plaza. “The Microsoft Plaza offers consumers an easy way to shop online with their favorite merchants without having to battle store crowds.”

Each ClickPoint is good toward frequent flier miles from major airlines. The first-prize winner will receive 500,000 clickpoints, good for 500,000 frequent flyer miles on participating airlines. The second-prize winner will receive 250,000 ClickPoints, and the ten third-prize winners will receive 25,000 ClickPoints each.

The Microsoft Plaza also offers a solution to one of the biggest online shopping barriers – returns. With the introduction of an innovative package delivery and return program offered through PackageNet, shoppers who want to return merchandise can bring their package to the customer service desk of any one of more than 4,000 grocery stores in 49 states displaying the PackageNet logo. Customers can quickly and easily ship items back when they shop for groceries. In addition, The Microsoft Plaza preferred customers get $200 in package insurance free.

To become Click and Fly Away Sweepstakes contestants, Plaza visitors need only supply their first name, last name, e-mail address and phone number on The Microsoft Plaza’s online entry form at (http://www.plaza.MSN.com/) .
