Microsoft Responds to Channel Request for Sales Specialist Credential

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 5, 1998 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the Microsoft® Sales Specialist credential enabling resellers to demonstrate their knowledge and proficiency in identifying customers’ needs and selling business technology solutions based on the Windows® operating system. Training for this credential is available to Microsoft Certified Solution Providers, large account resellers, value-added providers and distributors via instructor-led classes at selected Microsoft Authorized Technical Education Centers and through independent Microsoft Sales Specialist Trainers in North America beginning in March 1998.

“Resellers told us that they have access to technical training, but what they needed now was information on how to best market and sell their products and services,” said Donna Senko, general manager of certification at Microsoft. “The Microsoft Sales Specialist credential meets that need and is expected to help resellers increase sales productivity and success.”

“It’s simple. With the Microsoft Sales Specialist credential, I can be assured that my sales staff has the knowledge to identify our clients’ needs and present the best total solution,” said Jonathan Katz, president and CEO of Omnitech Corporate Solutions Inc. in Englewood, N.J. “My technical team can then implement that solution. This is a very efficient and cost-effective way for us to meet our clients’ needs – everyone stays focused on their area of expertise.”
