Forget the Crowded Store, Sidewalk Sale Hits the Internet

REDMOND, Wash., March 1, 1999 — It’s a yellow-dot, red-tag, blue-light special, with hundreds of national and local prizes rolled into one giant, national Sidewalk Sale. From March 1 through 21, the MSN
™Sidewalk® online guide will team up with more than 200 merchants to host one of the biggest online sales and sweepstakes ever. Consumers will have the opportunity to win more than 400 prizes and discounts totaling $100,000. MSN Sidewalk is an online guide designed specifically to help consumers make better decisions about how to spend their time and money.

Visitors to the Sidewalk Sale will learn about discounts at local retailers and have the opportunity to win great prizes, including airline tickets, golf clubs, a 14-karat-gold diamond ring and a one-week dream vacation in an RV. Merchants from more than 20 cities across the country have donated prizes and are offering discounts to users who visit MSN Sidewalk during the Sidewalk Sale. Other prizes include cell phones, computers and flowers for a year.

“More than 4 million users visit Sidewalk every month for help in making decisions about what to buy in their area,”
said Matt Kursh, business manager for MSN Sidewalk.
“We’re happy to reward those visitors and provide a new way for our advertisers to reach users with compelling, timely offers.”

Online consumers can enter to win prizes in their area by completing an entry form available on MSN Sidewalk or by sending the form in mail. Contestants must be 18 years or older and a U.S. resident.
