Microsoft Announces Shareholder Acceptance of Offer to Acquire Sendit

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 1, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that its tender offer to acquire Swedish company Sendit AB, a leading provider of mobile Internet solutions, has been accepted by more than 90 percent of Sendit’s shareholders. The acquisition will now be completed, and Sendit will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft.

With a number of the world’s most recognized GSM operators among its clients, Sendit is a world leader in mobile Internet solutions. The acquisition of Sendit will take Microsoft one step closer to its vision of providing software and services that deliver information to everyone any time, anywhere and from any device. With this acquisition, Microsoft is establishing a product development center in the Nordic region for the first time.

The Swedish center will function as a complete business unit within Microsoft’s Server Applications team and will receive continued investment in its rapid growth. It will drive Microsoft’s business in carrier-based mobile Internet server products.
