Microsoft Encarta Reference Suite 2000 Now Available on DVD-ROM

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 23, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the release of Encarta® Reference Suite 2000 on DVD-ROM to stores nationwide. The DVD offering incorporates four reference resources – Microsoft® Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe 2000, Encarta Interactive World Atlas, Encarta World English Dictionary and Encarta Online Deluxe – combined on one disc to provide enhanced integration and ease of use.

Encarta Reference Suite 2000 is a valuable resource for home and school because it contains more than 65,000 articles with information on history, science, the arts, geography, the English language and more.

The DVD offering provides parents, teachers and students with the same comprehensive information available on CD-ROM but with DVD technology enhancements that include the following:

  • Increased product integration. The Cross Product Find searches entries across all three products, rendering results generated from more than 16,000 links between products.

  • Enhanced audio and video playback. Audio clips are sharper and clearer, and videos play full-screen in high resolution.

  • Additional video images. Additional videos, 360-degree views and Virtual Flights of places around the world are available in Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe and Encarta Interactive World Atlas.

Encarta Reference Suite 2000 DVD is available for an estimated retail price of $99 (U.S.) before a $35 mail-in rebate* and runs on the Microsoft Windows® 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT® 4.0 or later operating systems.
