MSN HomeAdvisor Traffic Soars to New Levels in January, Resulting in Record Number of Leads for Brokers

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 22, 2000 — The MSN TM HomeAdvisor TM online real estate service, the award-winning guide to finding homes and loans on the Web, today announced record-breaking traffic numbers for the month of January, according to Media Metrix Inc. HomeAdvisor received more unique visitors in January than in any other month since the site launched in summer 1998, with traffic up 37.5 percent from December 1999 and more than 160 percent from January 1999, making it the nation’s fastest-growing real estate site.

In addition, a study of 85 independently owned and operated RE/MAX offices nationwide revealed that HomeAdvisor delivered more than 13 times as many qualified leads to real estate professionals as REALTOR.COM. During the month of January, the 85 RE/MAX brokers surveyed received 15,263 leads from MSN HomeAdvisor, compared with only 1,157 leads from REALTOR.COM during the same period. This further demonstrates that HomeAdvisor is a leading source of leads to real estate agents and brokers nationwide.

“HomeAdvisor has proven to be an invaluable marketing tool for our office,”
said Joe Reichmann, regional director at RE/MAX of New Jersey.
“Since posting our listings on the site, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in traffic to our Web site, with more than 4,500 leads from HomeAdvisor in January alone. With HomeAdvisor, we are serving our customers while building our business online.”

Several of the RE/MAX brokers surveyed reported similar results:

  • RE/MAX of Dallas/Ft. Worth: 614 leads from HomeAdvisor, 163 from REALTOR.COM

  • RE/MAX of Plano, Texas: 456 leads from HomeAdvisor, 87 from REALTOR.COM

  • RE/MAX 100 in Washington, D.C.: 508 leads from HomeAdvisor, 0 from REALTOR.COM

  • RE/MAX Realty 100 in St. Paul, Minn.: 238 leads from HomeAdvisor, 0 from REALTOR.COM

“The January numbers confirm previous research that clearly demonstrates that HomeAdvisor continues to deliver dramatically more qualified customers to real estate professionals than REALTOR.COM,”
said Ian Morris, product unit manager for MSN HomeAdvisor at Microsoft Corp.
“We are excited to see even more consumers flocking to HomeAdvisor for all their home-buying needs, and glad to see that these visits result in more qualified leads for our broker and agent partners and advertisers. HomeAdvisor continues to demonstrate that it is the right solution for both consumers and real estate professionals.”
