Online Shoppers Find MSN eShop a Shopping Haven

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 8, 2000 — The MSN® network of Internet services, the world’s most popular destination on the Internet, today released the results of a study on MSN eShop, the one-stop shopping location on MSN, that found that consumers are more satisfied than ever with the shopping service and the breadth of features eShop provides. Consumers specifically cited satisfaction with eShop’s timesaving features and its product comparison tools, which helped them locate the right product at the right price.

MSN conducted the study for seven days in late September, surveying 4,655 visitors to the MSN eShop site to determine how they felt about its shopping service and which MSN eShop features they most preferred. Ninety-four percent of respondents were satisfied with MSN eShop and the tools it provided them for shopping online, including 50 percent who were extremely or very satisfied and 44 percent who were somewhat satisfied with the site. Another 68 percent of respondents described MSN eShop as either somewhat better or much better than most online shopping sites they had encountered, with an additional 7 percent naming it the best online shopping site they’ve visited. In addition, 70 percent of respondents said they were either extremely likely or very likely to return to MSN eShop.

“Customer and merchant satisfaction is our measuring stick for the success of MSN eShop,”
said Yusuf Mehdi, vice president of MSN.
“It’s rewarding to see that consumers use MSN eShop because its tools and content save them time and money. Our consumers are pleased because of our great merchants, and our merchants are pleased because of our great consumers.”

Respondents to the survey cited MSN eShop’s ability to compare products side by side — based on their features, price and reviews — and to provide information on a product’s most important features as the most useful shopping tools on the site. MSN eShop’s various power searching capabilities — which allow users to find products based on their features, price, name or brand — were also frequently cited as a highly valued feature of the site.

In an effort to continue providing timesaving tools and content, MSN eShop has introduced enriched tools and features to its site along with making shopping available throughout the MSN network. MSN eShop now offers a Bargain Center to help consumers find all items on sale from all MSN merchants in one central place and a Return Center to help consumers understand different return policies and the best way to return merchandise. MSN eShop’s integration with MSN Yellow Pages gives consumers the opportunity to find business information about offline locations to purchase products.
