Microsoft Welcomes New Regional Vice President to its U.S. Subsidiary

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 9, 2000 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that Erik Renaud of Minneapolis, MN, will join the company as its vice president of sales and service for its U.S. Central region. Based in Minneapolis, Renaud will manage Microsoft’s sales teams in this 15-state region.

“Eric brings more than 20 years of experience in the Midwest technology market,”
said Kevin Johnson, vice president of the U.S. sales subsidiaries.
“His experience includes hands-on work with large corporate enterprises and smaller start-ups. Eric’s wide range of skills and knowledge will enable Microsoft’s regional team to do even more to serve its broad customer base in the Midwest.”

Renaud was most recently vice president of sales and business development for Espira, an e-commerce security company. Originally from Kansas City, Mo., and a graduate of Creighton University, Renaud started his distinguished career at IBM in 1980, and then joined Lotus in 1991. Renaud spent nine years at Lotus Corporation as regional director for the sales organization, both in the Midwest region and Canada. He was responsible for successfully leading Lotus’s largest North-American region, exceeding revenue targets and building strong customer relationships for three consecutive years.

“I am delighted to be joining Microsoft because I believe the company is poised to lead the next generation of computing,”
Renaud said.
“This is an incredibly competitive market. You have to produce great technology and then back it up with a genuine commitment to your customer. Microsoft really ‘gets it’ – they make great products and they care deeply about their customers – that makes this opportunity very exciting.”
