Microsoft Debuts Streaming Webcasts, Expands Finance News Content On MSN MoneyCentral

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 17, 2001 — Microsoft Corp. today announced two new ways for consumers to keep abreast of market developments and breaking financial news on the MSN® MoneyCentral™
online personal finance service. The award-winning site now features live streaming webcasts of financial news powered by WebFN and daily news about the Internet economy from the Industry Standard.

In addition, Microsoft announced that MoneyCentral reached a milestone in November 2000, attracting a record 11 million unique visitors, an increase of nearly 100 percent from November 1999. The number of average daily page views rose to more than 11 million per weekday (source: Integrated Decision Support System).

New features include the following:

  • Live video news. Now consumers can follow market developments from 8 a.m. to
    8 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, via live streamed video webcasts from WebFN. MoneyCentral users can access finance and business updates from WebFN’s 600 BridgeNews reporters in 100 newsrooms worldwide. As commentators discuss a stock via video, MoneyCentral allows consumers to see price quotes and charts relevant to the story at the same time.

  • New content. The Insight and Recent News areas include daily news and analysis about the Internet economy and technology trends from the Industry Standard.
