BizTalk Server 2000 Helps Solutia Create Great Chemistry With Customers

REDMOND, Wash., June 1, 2001 — Solutia Inc., a global leader in the chemical industry, has implemented Microsoft® BizTalk™
Server 2000 across the enterprise and taken aim at shortening delivery cycles, reducing costs and improving overall customer service. Today, Solutia’s BizTalk Server 2000 solution is deployed at 18 manufacturing sites around the world, interoperating with more than 65 servers of various platforms that support more than 100 applications, including Solutia’s massive SAP ERP system.

After realizing that it needed to provide customers with reliable and timely information from its manufacturing and distribution centers, Solutia developed enterprise integration solutions with Compaq Global Services and chose BizTalk Server 2000 to deploy business-to-business (B2B) operability and integration with customers, partners and an industrial exchange.

“Solutia’s 24×7 ERP-Integration framework is processing 4.5 million business transactions per month with 2-second to 3-second global response time to our manufacturing and distribution center operations,”
said Ray Mooney, chief technical officer of Solutia e-Business.
“Now, with the implementation of the BizTalk Server 2000 solution, Solutia will be able to extend its integration framework and provide to Solutia customers B2B-Integration solutions that offer the real-time e-business capabilities necessary to execute global business transactions.”

With Microsoft Corp.’s commitment to existing and emerging industry standards, BizTalk Server 2000 will prevent Solutia from being locked into any one particular technology platform or vendor and will allow the company to continue to integrate with partners regardless of their particular platforms and applications.
