Head of Microsoft Research to Discuss the Future of Computing At December Microsoft Silicon Valley Speaker Series

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 28, 2001 — Monday, Dec. 3, Rick Rashid, inventor and senior vice president of Microsoft Research, will deliver a presentation at the December Microsoft Silicon Valley Speaker Series event. Rashid will discuss Microsoft Corp.’s goal of developing new technologies that simplify and enhance users’ computing experiences, and facilitate the creation of new software.

Rashid also will address the value of long-term research and Microsoft’s commitment to basic science. Attendees will get a look at research under way at Microsoft and the impact that Microsoft Research has had on products over the past 10 years.

The speaker series, held monthly at Microsoft’s Mountain View campus, is part lecture and part interactive forum in which company executives and industry observers address a variety of technologies, trends and topics in the fast-moving high-technology world.
