Microsoft Great Plains Enhances Dynamics Solution

FARGO, N.D., Dec. 18, 2001 — Microsoft® Great Plains®
Business Solutions has announced expanded applications to Dynamics Release 6.0, a proven solution for the middle market. Designed to provide greater functionality to equip midmarket businesses’ growing needs, the extensions deliver new features, products and services that help organizations address total cost of ownership and allow them to make better business decisions faster.

The extensions enable midmarket organizations to more effectively manage financial activities by enhancing their connectivity with key business partners automating processes that increase employee productivity. These enhancements, which address customer demand in the areas of e-business and sales and purchasing, complement the rich scalability and functionality of Dynamics Release 6.0, the most comprehensive release in the history of Microsoft Great Plains.

The enhancements are primarily to the Financial Series and the Project Series within Dynamics 6.0, enabling midmarket companies to better track inventory activity and more effectively manage their financials, as well as offering users new ways to manage time and expenses.

Financial and Distribution Extensions

  • Lockbox Processing automatically applies customer payment information in an electronic batch format from a transaction file provided by the customer’s bank, alleviating the administration associated with managing high volumes of cash receipts.

  • Refund Checks enhances receivables management by automatically reimbursing customers and transferring their credit balances to Dynamics payables management for voucher and check creation, while clearing their accounts receivable balance.

  • FRx®
Forecaster Professional Edition, a precision budgeting and planning solution, allows users to effortlessly deploy budgeting data throughout an organization, quickly collaborate with the management team in a Web-based environment, plan more effectively, manage the budget to actual information and efficiently achieve business objectives.

  • eExpense, a new Web-based solution that automates each step of the travel and entertainment expense management process, tightly integrates with Dynamics payables management for reimbursement.

  • The Historical Stock Status Report calculates and reports inventory stock quantities and values as of any date specified by the user.

Project Series Extensions

  • PS Time and Expense comprises both current and new time and expense components that include Web Time, formerly called eTimesheets for Project Series; Personal Data Keeper (PDK); and the new module, Web Expense.

  • PS TimeReporter is a new solution that provides Project Series users with the option to enter time and expenses via a personal digital assistant (PDA) and synchronize that information with PS Time and Expense and the Project Series for approvals, project tracking, invoicing and reporting.

In continuing to deliver to organizations the ability to customize and integrate Dynamics according to business needs, the Integration Manager, with an entirely new architecture, provides users with the safest and easiest way to import business data into Dynamics 6.0. The extensions also include eTimesheets for Payroll and Canadian Payroll.
