Enterprise Systems Management Innovator To Lead Microsoft’s Management Effort

REDMOND, Wash., July 16, 2002 — Microsoft Corp. today announced it has hired Kirill Tatarinov, an expert in systems management, as corporate vice president of the Management Business Group.

Tatarinov brings more than a decade of experience in the systems management industry to his new position. He will lead development and marketing efforts for Microsoft® Windows®
management solutions, including Systems Management Server, Microsoft Operations Manager and Application Center. He began work at Microsoft on July 15.

said Brian Valentine, senior vice president of the Windows Division at Microsoft.

During his tenure at BMC Software Inc., Tatarinov was the senior vice president and chief technology officer responsible for driving the company’s technical vision and strategy. He also was responsible for several business units, including Enterprise E-Business Management, Performance Management, Network Management and Common Technology Infrastructure. Prior to joining BMC, Tatarinov co-founded Patrol Software Pty. Ltd., where he developed the original PATROL family of products. He was responsible for the PATROL products following the acquisition of Patrol Software in 1994, and managed the product’s integration with BMC.

Tatarinov said he decided to join Microsoft to continue his professional experience with a company in which management is a critical component of its enterprise platform strategy.
