Microsoft and Bank of America Ink Marketing Agreement

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 15, 2002 —
Microsoft Corp. today announced that Bank of America Corp. has signed an agreement to advertise on and offer links to its services across the MSN®
network of Internet services. The agreement enables one of the world’s leading financial services companies to extend awareness of its products to the more than 300 million monthly visitors to MSN.

Under the terms of the agreement, consumers who visit the popular CNBC on MSN Money Banking Center can access links to services and special offers from Bank of America. The links will offer consumers the timeliest information as they weigh their banking needs.

“This agreement reflects Microsoft’s commitment to providing value to both our sets of customers: consumers and financial institutions,”
said Chris Jolley, director of product management for the Financial Products Group at Microsoft.
“We’re supplying Bank of America with a significant online distribution channel to help increase customer acquisition and retention while providing consumers with the added choice and convenience of finding useful financial services and information — all in one place.”

In addition to links and information from Bank of America, the CNBC on MSN Money Banking Center offers consumers account and loan information, expert commentary, and financial tools. By offering links in this section of the site, Bank of America can effectively target its services to consumers who are thinking about their finances.

“We are committed to leveraging the Internet to help people find new and better ways to manage their financial lives,”
said Sanjay Gupta, e-commerce and relationship marketing executive at Bank of America.
“By aligning with Microsoft, we provide millions of consumers with another way to access leading financial services from Bank of America.”
