Media Alert: Microsoft Participates in Spring 2005 VON Conference & Expo

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7, 2005 — At Spring 2005 VON Conference & Expo, members of the Real-Time Collaboration Group at Microsoft Corp. will showcase solutions that combine the power of instant messaging (IM), presence, PC-based voice and video, and telephony at Booth 507. The showcase will come on the heels of a scheduled March 8 Web conference hosted by Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates, who will discuss the newest wave of Microsoft®
Office System real-time collaboration products designed to help businesses make better, more-informed decisions — more quickly.

On March 9, Ed Simnett, lead product manager for the Live Communications Group in Microsoft’s Real-Time Collaboration Group, will participate in a panel discussion at the VON conference titled “Killer App: Using Presence and Instant Messaging.” The panel will examine how IM is being applied to support better collaborative work and integration with the existing systems infrastructure.
