The Connector Fact Sheet

The Connector, a new transportation service launched by the Microsoft® Connections Transportation Program, will carry employees from their residential neighborhoods to the Redmond, Wash., campus, starting Sept. 24. In the pilot phase, The Connector will make stops in five neighborhoods covering downtown Seattle, Bothell, Mill Creek, Issaquah and Sammamish, providing a convenient, productive and comfortable means for commuting to work.

Quick Facts

The Connector is a free service available to all full-time Microsoft employees.

Seven full-size coaches and seven midsize coaches will carry up to 1,000 riders per day.

  • Features include bike racks, Wi-Fi connectivity and AC power ports.

Buses will operate on the following five routes:

  • Queen Anne-Belltown

  • First Hill-Capitol Hill

  • Mill Creek-Bothell

  • Issaquah-South Sammamish

  • Snoqualmie-Issaquah



The Connector is expected to carry up to 1,000 Microsoft employees to the company’s Redmond, Wash. campus daily.

The Connector will have several pickup times in the morning between 6:20 and 9:30 a.m. and several departure times from Redmond in the evening between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The Connector is another facet of Microsoft’s transportation program, which includes free Metro bus passes, vanpools, carpool parking privileges and free emergency rides home for commuters.

Environmental Benefits

  • The Connector service will result in 20,000 fewer cars per month and 240,000 fewer cars per year on the road.

  • The Connector will eliminate approximately 3,800 tons of carbon emissions annually.

  • By providing a convenient option for commuting to work, The Connector will eliminate approximately 800 vehicle trips and 32,200 miles of travel each day, significantly curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
