Microsoft Windows Embedded Announces OEM Partner Excellence Award Winners

REDMOND, Wash. — June 1, 2011 —
Windows Embedded partners operate in some of today’s most evolutionary markets, including medical, retail and manufacturing. These partners are building devices — from thin clients to self-service kiosks, digital signage to consumer electronics — all powered by Windows Embedded technology. To continue honoring the innovative specialized devices partners are creating, Windows Embedded is pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Microsoft Windows Embedded OEM Partner Excellence Award.

This year, Microsoft Corp. is recognizing Intermec Technologies Corp., Wyse Technology Inc., Radiant Systems Inc., Casio Computer Co. Ltd., and NEC Corp. for successfully marketing Windows Embedded products and driving increased Windows Embedded awareness with prospects and existing customers.


Intermec

Intermec won the Windows Embedded Partner Excellence Awards for its continued innovation in launching next-generation handheld computers powered by the Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 platform, the first company to do so. Intermec develops and integrates products, services and technologies that identify, track and manage supply chain assets and information. The company’s rugged mobile computing and data collection systems, bar code printers, label media and RFID technologies are used by customers across many industries around the world, helping to improve the productivity, quality and responsiveness of business operations.


Wyse
— Wyse won this award for its new Z class high performance thin clients. The Wyse Z class brings unrivalled high performance to users demanding more from their virtual desktops, including the first SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity in a thin client, dual core performance and DisplayPort, DVI or VGA display options. Wyse’s Z class thin clients run on Windows Embedded Standard 7 or Windows Embedded Compact 7, and Wyse has actively incorporated Windows Embedded Device Manager 2011 to assist in managing its cloud clients. Wyse is a global leader in cloud client computing, with a portfolio of products including industry-leading thin, zero and cloud PC client solutions that boast advanced management, desktop virtualization and cloud software supporting desktops, laptops and next-generation mobile devices.


Radiant Systems
— Radiant won this award for their Orderman Columbus POS family of products and for its recent releases of the Radiant P1515 and Kitchen Production System Controller. These products were all developed to address a market need in an aggressive timeframe. All products have exceeded Radiant’s customer and reseller expectations in terms of quality and feature or function. Radiant is a global provider of point-of-sale (POS) hardware and software solutions to organizations in the hospitality and retail industries, including more than 100,000 restaurants, retail stores, stadiums, parks, arenas, cinemas, convenience stores, fuel centers and other customer-service venues.


Casio
— Casio won this award for its Smart Communicator IT-300, which is powered by Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5. Additionally, the company was chosen based on its commitment to Windows Embedded on a global level, as it served as the first OEM in Japan to design Handheld Terminals running on the Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 platform. A longtime player in the electronics market, Casio has recently been introducing many innovative and sophisticated products for consumer and enterprise scenarios.


NEC
— NEC won this award based on exceptional development and marketing in the digital signage category, as well as the company’s collaboration between Intel and Microsoft in creating next-generation digital signage, most recently demoed at the 2011 National Retail Federation’s Convention and Expo. NEC also served as a keynote session partner for Windows Embedded Standard 7 at Retail Tech Japan. With more than 100 years of experience, NEC of IT and network technologies that benefit businesses and people around the world.
