Derrick McCourt

General Manager, Public Sector

Derrick McCourt is the UK Public Sector General Manager. He is responsible for leading the growth of Microsoft’s Public Sector business through transformational opportunities around devices, services and solutions to enable our customers to do “More with Less” and “New with Less.” His team works across a number of customer segments, including Central and Local Government, Public Safety & National Security, Healthcare and Education

Derrick joined Microsoft in 2001, establishing Microsoft’s office in Belfast and playing a prominent role in the local IT industry. In 2005, Derrick took on an international role as a Director in Microsoft’s WWLP Group. He moved to Edinburgh in 2009 to run Microsoft Scotland and took on responsibility for our UK Government Business.

Derrick holds an honours degree in Computing Science from the University of Ulster, and an MBA from the Open University. He is an Honorary Visiting Fellow at Edinburgh Napier University.
