HONG KONG — January 14, 2016 Microsoft Hong Kong today announced the retail availability of Surface Book. Beginning January 15, 2016, customers can buy the Surface Book at Fortress, The Nuance Group (HK) Limited at Hong Kong International Airport and on Microsoft’s Online Store. Prices start at HK$11,588. Surface Book is the newest and most powerful device that complements the Surface family, which gives people choice and represents Microsoft’s mission of delivering premium, productive devices that help users achieve more.

Redefining the laptop

Surface Book is made for people looking for the ultimate laptop. It offers users the performance of a laptop with the portability of a tablet and the exceptional power to run the most demanding software that creators use to perfect their work. It is also designed to bring the best of Windows 10 to life. Loaded with Windows 10 Pro, the Surface Book is a powerhouse in productivity at home, in the classroom, art studio, office and boardroom.

“With Surface, we set out to deliver a tablet that can replace your laptop, and the combination of performance, versatility, and portability has really resonated with people,” says Chester Wong, Director of Consumer Channels Group, Microsoft Hong Kong. “However, there are some people who need even more performance – people doing photo and video editing or engineers and architects rendering 3D models and schematics. Therefore, we decided to build not just a laptop, but a Surface laptop – one that offers amazing performance and craftsmanship, while doing things other laptops can’t do.”

Chester Wong, Director of Consumer Channels, Microsoft Hong Kong announces that Surface Book will be available in Hong Kong starting from 15th January.

High performance laptop offering ultimate versatility and graphic horsepower

Surface Book has characterized Surface from the beginning. This new device is a powerful, high-performance laptop with stunning craftsmanship that offers accurate and responsive pen and touch support. Ultrathin, the Surface Book combines the impressive power of 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 or Core™ i7 processors with up to 12 hours of battery life[1]. The 13.5-inch optically bonded PixelSense Display delivers a high-contrast 267 dpi display with improved latency and parallax, making it not just beautiful to look at but natural and fluid to write on. An optional discrete Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) allows Surface Book to harness the full power of hardware-accelerated graphics for seamless video editing, fast rendering or immersive gaming.

The screen detaches and can be used like a clipboard to sketch, take notes and benefit from Windows programs like Microsoft Edge. At just 1.6 pounds in clipboard mode, it’s easy to take the Surface Book anywhere – but with all the power of a full-sized laptop. Rotate the screen and reattach it to the keyboard base which houses the batteries to enjoy all-day productivity while taking advantage of the discrete GPU for hardware accelerated graphics and a canvas for your art, sketching, and ideas. Like Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4, Surface Book comes with the latest Surface Pen, which combines 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity with low latency for a real-pen-on-paper feeling, letting you write, draw and mark documents with precision.

Empowering creators around the world

Surface is made for the creative professional. This was brought to life recently through a special campaign of Microsoft called Designed on Surface. In collaboration with artists around the world, beautiful murals were created using Surface devices over the course of five weeks.

Bao Ho, the Hong Kong-based artist, is amazed by the advancement in the Surface series. “The Surface series has always helped me bring my creativity to life,” she enthuses. “The newest Surface Book, which embodies the exceptional power and unprecedented versatility that Surface is all about, provides improved graphics performance and processing power that take my creations to the next level. It’s my creative powerhouse at any time and wherever I am.”
