Catholic schools in the Philippines move to the cloud with Microsoft’s Office 365

Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines partners with Microsoft in creating anytime, anywhere learning opportunities for students

MANILA, Philippines, October 02, 2014—As more institutions realize the value of advanced technology in transforming education, the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) recently forged a partnership with Microsoft Philippines to provide modern learning experiences for its member-schools.

A number of schools in the Philippines have already moved to Office365, including: De La Salle University, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Holy Angel University, Our Lady of Fatima University, San Sebastian College, Assumption College, Ateneo de Cebu, Miriam College, Treston International College, and Enderun Colleges among others.

Office365 for Education will offer CEAP and its member schools who opt into Office 365 online access to the latest versions of Microsoft Office, as well as Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync to provide the academe with tools that create anytime, anywhere learning opportunities across multiple devices. The solution delivers Microsoft’s unmatched power of cloud productivity to educational institutions, without compromising data privacy.

“Office365 fulfills 21st century learning requirements such as collaboration, mobility, and flexibility that will make our Catholic schools globally competitive,” said Br. Narciso Erguiza Jr., FSC, CEAP president. “The familiar apps of Microsoft’s Office 365 allow us to easily integrate technology for a much more effective and productive learning experience. As it is cloud-based, students, and teachers can facilitate learning and collaborate with one another anytime, anywhere, and across multiple devices.”

CEAP has utilized similar cloud-based solutions in the past. After careful evaluation, CEAP has decided to shift to Microsoft’s Office 365.

“We evaluated several options but saw Office 365 as the most suitable solution to help modernize the learning infrastructure of our member schools,” added Erquiza. “Microsoft understands the importance we place on data privacy. As Office 365 is a secure cloud technology, we are assured that the data of students and teachers are safe from cyber threats.”

As part of the partnership, CEAP will also help coordinate regional training events for Office 365, Office Tips & Tricks, Windows in the Classroom, and any other Microsoft topics that schools would be interested in, specifically at the CEAP regional conferences/meetings.

“Microsoft is committed towards transforming Philippine education through our innovative devices, and services that will help develop holistic and future-ready students” said Karrie Ilagan, Microsoft Philippines General Manager. “Beyond providing CEAP with high-impact solutions like Office 365, Microsoft also guarantees that the right to data privacy of students and teachers is highly observed. This puts us in a strong position to be the technology partner of CEAP and its growing number of member schools around the country.”
