MANILA, PHILIPPINES August 3, 2015— The Province of Cavite recently kicked off its ICT Integration for Education Project by providing over 2000 teachers with new tablets to use to enable them to adapt to the changing needs of today’s students.

“Providing our children quality education is a top priority for us. We want our teachers to be more efficient in their jobs and more effective in reaching out to the kids,” said Cavite Governor Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr. “Our teachers will use the tablets to create their lesson plans, provide parents with immediate feedback on student performance and discover better ways of teaching.”

The teachers received HP Stream 7 tablets running on Windows 8.1 and equipped with full versions of Office 365 that will enable them to stay on top of their work wherever they may be. Aside from providing them with better tools to do their day to day work, this technology will enable teachers to improve communication and coordination with parents and school administrators.

“We chose Windows devices because we believe in the Microsoft brand and its promise of always providing great and consistent products with strong support,” Remulla added.

To complement the tablet distribution, a Microsoft Educator Network Empowerment Session with Microsoft Education Ambassadors taught those present tips and tricks on how to maximize their new devices for teaching. In addition to this, teachers will be able to benefit from the strong Microsoft Education Network and Partners in Learning Program for added training and tools that will enable them to maximize the use of technology in teaching.

“At Microsoft, our role is to ensure that educators adapt to the way learning has evolved. We invest heavily on teachers to equip them with the right skills to adapt to this change through programs like the Microsoft Educator Network and Partners in Learning,” said Clarissa Segismundo, Education Programs Lead for Microsoft Philippines.

Segismundo shared: “We want to ensure that all the teachers in the Province of Cavite get the right training that will enable them to use their tablets effectively to enhance learning and teaching. Tasks such as computing grades, creating lesson plans, and lectures can easily be simplified with the right tools and training.”

Prudencio M. Animas of Gov. Ferrer Memorial National High School is just one among the many teachers who are looking forward to seeing the tablets at work.

When asked about the ICT Integration for Education Project, Governor Remulla stated that this program is just the first step in their holistic approach to creating a smarter province.

“The next step is healthcare and peace and order which we hope to implement using the Windows System. We intend to have Internet as a backbone for capacity from which we connect the entire system to branch out into other venues of governance,” said Remulla.

On top of the distribution of tablets, Remulla aims to ensure all schools and homes are given access to WiFi with the help of TV White Space technologies which utilizes TV frequencies to provide basic internet access for areas outside commercial telco coverage. The province intends to implement ‘All Things Internet,’ wherein key branches of the provincial government in the next five years will all be connected to the Internet.
