Microsoft boosts growth and prepares businesses for the digital era

Investing in cloud technologies necessary for competitive advantage

 1

Globalization and technology innovations have fundamentally changed the way people live and work. A “new world of work” has been born and organizations need to adapt to stay relevant and competitive.

PwC reported that 41% of millennials prefer to communicate electronically at work than face to face; 75% believe that access to technology make them more effective at work. In the Philippines, 83% of SMB employees are spending over 20% of their working time outside the office, and many rely on their personal devices and online cloud-based tools for email, file sharing and virtual meetings for productivity.

Even enterprises are being challenged to keep pace with the increasingly competitive digital business landscape. This is redefining the role of Chief Information Officers who are accelerating the adoption of new capabilities to elevate their roles as growth drivers in the digital age. In a recent survey conducted by Microsoft among CIOs across Southeast Asia, 73% of CIOs mentioned cloud as a top priority and essential to their strategy.

Cian O’Neill, COO for Microsoft Philippines said, “The rising demand for cloud and mobility has inspired us to steer businesses toward transformation. Together with our partners, we serve a range of solutions to enable customers to rewire their businesses for today’s Mobile-first, Cloud-first world.”

Committed to helping businesses keep pace with today’s New World of Work, Microsoft has invested over USD 15 billion in developing its cloud infrastructure since its first datacenter opened in 1989.

In APAC alone, Microsoft has invested over $225 million to transform and support one of the world’s largest IT partner ecosystem with end-to-end capabilities of new and existing technologies such as the Cloud. Microsoft has over 60,000 partners in APAC, 14,000 of which are cloud providers.

With the goal of helping businesses keep pace with competition Microsoft is holding its inaugural Microsoft Big Top Cloud Festival in the Philippines to inform customers on the role of technology in becoming responsive and customer-obsessed in today’s New World of Work.

Microsoft Big Top Cloud Festival helped participants uncover the latest trends in technology and strategies for business growth and innovation. For partners, Microsoft strengthened its ecosystem to enable them to provide increasing value to their customers. For developers, the Microsoft cloud infrastructure gave the power of a global datacenter for simultaneous updating and deploying of applications, as well as maintaining code quality. For SMBs, numerous world-class Microsoft solutions augmented their business performance.

“As the ASEAN integration looms, businesses need disruptive technologies, like the cloud, to be at par with global standards, accelerate the growth of the economy, and stay competitive. Microsoft offers cloud technologies to customers as an equalizer offering flexibility and agility—enabling businesses of all sizes to operate at their optimal,” said O’Neill.

With the rise of the hyper-connected customer challenges current business models, transforming into a digital business is now a requirement. Cloud technologies enable the rethinking of products, services, and even entire business models to remain increasingly competitive in this New World of Work.
