REDMOND, Wash. and BRIDGEWATER, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 25, 1996– AT & T and Microsoft today announced that they have agreed to jointly promote and distribute Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 3.0 with AT & T WorldNet Service starting in early fall.
AT & T WorldNet Service will be included as part of Microsoft Windows(R) 95 software pre-loaded in computers that begin shipping later this year. AT & T WorldNet Service will also be included in future retail versions of Windows 95. In addition, AT & T will offer Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 3.0 on the installation CDs and floppies to customers of AT & T WorldNet Service beginning this fall.

AT & T WorldNet Service offers directories and topical areas to help people find useful information, guided tours for newcomers, navigational aids for users of all skill levels, and electronic mail. Under AT & T’s free trial offer, AT & T residential long distance customers who sign up for AT & T WorldNet Service in 1996 have free access to the Internet for five hours each month for the next year, as long as they use the service one hour each month. Customers pay $2.50 for each hour beyond the five. Under a separate plan, AT & T customers may opt for a flat monthly rate of $19.95 for unlimited access.
