The following features and services detail how Investor 2.0 uses technology to enhance the user experience. Many of these features, including the Portfolio Manager, ticker and news reader, use ActiveX
technologies to provide a customizable, easy-to-use experience for personal investors.
Portfolio Manager. Allows users to create and track multiple stock portfolios. The Investor Portfolio Manager supports stock splits and multiple purchase dates and tracks commissions. Users can change columns with right-click menus, or double-click columns to
them as in Microsoft Excel. It also lets users know automatically when there is news on any stock in their portfolio.
Business and financial news services. Visitors garner critical market information including daily business and investment news from MSNBC, PR Newswire and Business Wire. This service helps users understand why the value of their stocks is rising or falling.
Historical data. Displays historical charts or tables for any security. Users can choose the time period, overlay market indexes and other securities, customize chart settings, and download historical data to understand the past price/performance of their favorite stocks.
Online Trading. Users may save time and reduce commission fees by trading online with access to top financial services firms integrated with Investor, including Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. and, by year’s end, Fidelity Investments.
Market Summary. Provides up-to-the-minute information on the leading U.S. and foreign markets and currency rates and displays top 10 lists with the market’s best and worst performers. Users can also look up prices for specific securities by ticker symbol, company name or fund name.
Streaming ticker. The ticker displays up-to-the-minute stock quotes and news headlines from MSNBC streaming across the page. Ticker symbols can be entered automatically from Portfolio Manager, and users can access quote details with a click of the mouse. Users can display headlines from their favorite categories of news and access full-length articles by clicking on the headlines.
Integration with Microsoft Money. Users can easily import portfolio data from Microsoft Money to get up-to-the-minute prices, the latest business news and historical data on all their investments.
