, November 7, 1996 — Setting a new standard for business quality, the four leading domestic Indonesian PC manufacturers have announced a commitment to ship only genuine Microsoft®
software on their computer lines.
Galva Corporation, Multicom Persada International, PT Zyrexindo MandiriBuana PT and Zeuscom Indonesia have signed an agreement to preinstall genuine Windows®
95 operating systems on their PCs manufactured for the domestic Indonesian market.
This agreement is a sign of great progress in protecting the value of software intellectual property in this market, while increasing the business opportunities for Indonesian-based software and hardware companies.
Mr. Tunky Ariwibowo, Minister of Indonesian Department of Trade and Industry, J. Stapleton Roy, US Ambassador to Indonesia, and Microsoft officials attended a public signing ceremony today at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta to mark this important event.
Representing the Indonesian PC manufacturers were: Messieurs: Oki Widjaja, Director Galva Corporation PT; Wiriadi Tirtariyadi, Director- Multicom Persada International PT; Timothy Siddik, Director – PT Zyrexindo MandiriBuana PT; and Hendra Sutandinata, President & Director Zeuscom Indonesia. Representing Microsoft at the event were Joachim Kempin, Senior Vice President of Microsoft’s OEM Sales, and John Lauer, Regional Director of Microsoft’s Southeast Asia region.

This announcement is great news for Indonesian-based software companies who now will be able to thrive by selling into a market that is ripe for local profit. Commenting on this, Mr. Sutandinata, President & Director Zeuscom Indonesia, said:

Mr. Widjaya further observed,
