LAS VEGAS, Nov. 20, 1997 — As COMDEX/Fall comes to an end, Microsoft Corp. leaves with 13 awards for product excellence from leading industry publications.
Microsoft picked up honors across product and publication lines. In the Web browser software category, Microsoft® Internet Explorer 4.0 won PC/Computing’s MVP Award for Web Browser and Add-ins. Office 97 also shined, collecting PC/Computing’s MVP Award and Home Office Computing’s Editors’ Picks Award for Best Office Suite. The FrontPage® 97 Web site and management tool and the PowerPoint® 97 presentation graphics program both took home honors with PC/Computing’s MVP awards and Home Office Computing’s Editors’ Picks awards. Microsoft Internet Information Server 3.0, Picture It!
™personal imaging software, the Visual Basic® development system version 5.0 and Site Server Enterprise Edition were given MVP awards from PC/Computing. Word 4.21 for Macintosh and Publisher 97 both were chosen for Home Office Computing’s Editors’ Picks Awards.
Microsoft believes in the strength of its products and welcomes acknowledgement for the dedication that goes into its creations. A great deal of thought and sweat go into everything that comes out of Microsoft, and recognition for the product groups is celebrated.
Beyond the product wins, Microsoft was honored when two of its executives were among the first 15 inductees into Computer Reseller News Hall of Fame. Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates and Executive Vice President Steve Ballmer were chosen in recognition of their historic achievements as computer industry visionaries. Gates and Ballmer were inducted on Monday, Nov. 17, during COMDEX/Fall in Las Vegas.
