Microsoft Teams With Netcentives to Make Shopping Online Even More Attractive to Consumers for Father’s Day
REDMOND, Wash., June 8, 1998 —
— Microsoft Corp. today announced a special promotion for Father’s Day shoppers with Netcentives Inc., the leading provider of Internet promotions. The promotion is available at the Microsoft® Plaza ( http://www.plaza.MSN.com/ ), which recently chose Netcentives’ ClickRewards as the premier promotional program for its online shopping channel. Consumers who visit The Microsoft Plaza, link to a ClickRewards merchant site, and make a qualifying purchase between June 1 and June 22 will earn a bonus of 50 ClickPoints, which can be redeemed for frequent flyer miles on seven major carriers. Microsoft also announced the addition of 14 merchants to its site.
The Microsoft Plaza Father’s Day gift guide and merchant collection enable online shoppers to look for gift ideas and to easily purchase items from any of the existing and recently added brand name merchants, such as OfficeMax, Swiss Army Depot, Music Boulevard, Download Superstore and shades.com.
“We’re hoping that this Father’s Day promotion will motivate more people to do their shopping online,”
said Deborah Levinger, business manager, The Microsoft Plaza.
“We’re not only making it extremely easy to purchase top brand-name products online, we’re providing incentives that make this opportunity very compelling for consumers.”
“The Microsoft Plaza is an excellent strategic fit for ClickRewards,”
said West Shell III, president and CEO of Netcentives.
“Its innovative merchandising helps build customer loyalty by consistently and efficiently delivering more of what consumers want from an electronic-commerce site.”
This is the second major promotion in which The Microsoft Plaza and Netcentives have teamed to provide customers with special promotions designed to make online shopping more valuable and convenient. For merchants, the ClickRewards program is easy to implement and maintain. Netcentives will provide a full range of backup services, including technical support, account monitoring and reward fulfillment.
