Microsoft Announces Service Pack for Visual Studio 6.0 Products

REDMOND, Wash. – Oct. 7, 1998 – – Microsoft Corp. today announced that a Service Pack for Visual Studio® 6.0 products is scheduled to be available by the end of the month. The Service Pack addresses specific binary compatibility conflicts between run-time redistributable files in prior versions of the Microsoft® Visual Studio development system. Information explaining the bugs this Service Pack addresses is available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/sp/ .

This update is an immediate response to inform customers about known issues. As with all Service Packs, Microsoft recommends that developers install the current Service Pack before releasing their applications developed with Visual Studio so they can redistribute the latest run-time files.

The Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack will be available free* to all developers for Visual Studio through a Web download and Web order form. Customers of Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition will automatically receive the Service Pack upon release (provided the customer has sent in the in-box fulfillment voucher). MSDN
™
Universal and MSDN Professional subscribers will also receive the Service Pack automatically.
