Software Vendors Shipping More Than 600 Applications Worldwide For Microsoft SQL Server 7.0

REDMOND, Wash., April 12, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that more than 600 industry-leading applications are shipping for Microsoft® SQL Server
™7.0, more than double the number promised at its launch in November 1998. These applications help customers across 30 horizontal, vertical and specialty industries, ranging from ERP to health care and retail, meet their business needs through the power of integrated data warehousing and interoperability with Microsoft Office and the BackOffice® family suite .

Leading customers including Immucor Inc., Southwest Securities Inc., Tyco Printed Circuit Group Inc. and Zeon Chemicals Inc. have implemented SQL Server 7.0 with business applications from ISVs such as The Baan Co., Comprehensive Software Systems Ltd., SAP AG and Solomon Software and are reaping the benefits of faster, improved decision-making and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) throughout the enterprise. The Los Angeles division of Tyco, a circuit board manufacturer, has experienced a substantial increase in the efficiency of its business processes since Nextec Group, a value-added reseller, and Tyco implemented SQL Server 7.0 and Solomon IV for its Microsoft BackOffice-based accounting system.
