Inacom and Microsoft to Provide Accelerated Technology Deployment and Management Solutions

OMAHA, Neb., and REDMOND, Wash., April 13, 1999 — Inacom Corp. (NYSE: ICO), a global Fortune 500 technology services leader, and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT), today announced a technology solutions alliance through which Inacom will develop its new services around upcoming strategic Microsoft® products – such as Microsoft Office 2000 and the forthcoming Windows® 2000 operating system. This close collaboration with Microsoft will enable Inacom to develop competencies on emerging Microsoft technologies. In addition, Inacom professionals will now have access to prerelease versions of Microsoft software, enabling Inacom to bring to market solutions for its clients immediately upon availability of new Microsoft products.

As part of the technology solutions alliance, Inacom will make a multimillion dollar investment over a two-year period. This alliance will allow Inacom to help clients bring leading Microsoft products into their organizations quickly, thus expanding Inacom’s services business. Inacom solutions will include assessment, planning, design and deployment of both Microsoft Office and Windows 2000. In addition, Inacom plans to increase its number of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSE) by more than 50 percent to more than 1,000 to take advantage of increasing client demand for this expertise.

“This alliance builds on our long-standing relationship with Microsoft and will bring tremendous benefits to our clients,” said George De Sola, group executive of Technology Services at Inacom. “Inacom clients will have immediate access to the services and support they need to get the most from Microsoft applications and technologies. The first visible examples of this alliance will occur when Inacom introduces new services for Microsoft Office 2000 and the forthcoming Windows 2000 operating system. These services are expected to be available at the same time Microsoft releases these products.”

“Inacom has global reach and established resources for providing enterprisewide solutions to customers,” said Jeff Raikes, group vice president of Sales and Support at Microsoft. “The new alliance allows Microsoft to team more closely with Inacom as we work to meet the needs of our mutual customers.”

Leveraging the strength and experience of its professional services, Inacom is able to work closely with leading technology vendors to build competencies around cutting-edge products and develop solutions to support them. Inacom has over three years’ experience with Microsoft Exchange Server solutions and has worked closely with Microsoft’s rapid deployment program, collaborating with clients that are aggressively integrating new technologies into their operating environments. Taking it one step further, Inacom is working to pilot new Microsoft technologies within its Professional Services computing environment and testing labs. By gaining firsthand experience, Inacom is able to speed delivery of expert services to market and allow clients to take advantage of powerful computing solutions ahead of their competitors.
