REDMOND, Wash., April 21, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. has redesigned its Industry Solutions Web site ( http://www.microsoft.com/industry/ ) and incorporated new tools for accessing the latest industry developments and information about third-party line-of-business software. Responding to a market survey taken in January, Microsoft has made the Industry Solutions Web site faster, simpler and easier to use, while increasing its technical content and support. In addition, the redesigned site offers clearly defined content areas for business users, developers and ISVs, and members of the press.
The new Industry Solutions Web site allows users to easily access various industry solutions with new site tools such as those that provide enhanced search and navigation functions. A new top-level global navigation bar offers users the following links to other areas within Industry Solutions:

Home allows access to the main Industry Solutions home page as well as the main Business Users, Developers and ISVs, and Press home pages.

Industries lists all industries for easy access to industry-specific information.

Search is a new tool for quickly searching the solutions directory, Microsoft SQL Server

version 7.0 product guides, case studies or the entire Industry Solutions site. -
Events offers a calendar of industry events at a glance, as well as the ability to search by industry or region.

Initiatives lists Microsoft’s line-of-business COM-based architecture frameworks. These frameworks provide guidelines that help software applications from different vendors integrate and operate seamlessly.

International Sites provides links to international Industry Solutions Web sites.

Solutions Directory links to a searchable database of third-party line-of-business solutions. This directory of 4,000 industry-specific software applications built for Microsoft technology is updated weekly.

Help offers explicit assistance with navigating and searching the Industry Solutions Web site.
Microsoft also added enhancements to increase the overall value of the Industry Solutions Web site for business customers. The new Industry Solutions Web site now offers tools that allow users to request a sales call, take part in online seminars, download trial versions of software, and access technical expertise and help.
