Microsoft Wins PC World’s 1999 World Class Award For Best Software Support

REDMOND, Wash., June 3, 1999 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that its Product Support Services won PC World’s prestigious 1999 World Class Award for Best Software Support. The World Class Award winners were announced in the July 1999 issue of PC World and will be presented with trophies at an award ceremony to be held June 23 during PC Expo in New York.

“Microsoft is honored to receive this award from PC World,” said Kevin Johnson, vice president of Product Support Services at Microsoft. “Our support teams are committed to delivering the highest customer satisfaction in the industry, and it’s great to receive this recognition.”

Celebrating its 17th year, the respected World Class Award honors the top hardware, software and Web products in the computer industry. To select the best of the best, PC World’s editors, testers and contributors examined the entire gamut of products that have appeared in the magazine over the past year. Hundreds of products in 66 categories were judged on the basis of performance, value, consistency and innovation. The magazine also polled its readers to name the finest companies for PC and software support, the top direct PC vendor, and the best online and mail-order catalog.

“The World Class Awards are synonymous with the best product support in the industry,” said Cathryn Baskin, editor in chief of PC World. “Throughout the year, we search for the standout players in hardware and software for our readers. The World Class Awards allow us to shine a spotlight on the outstanding companies that have consistently proven to be top performers in the marketplace.”
