REDMOND, Wash., July 21, 1999 — The Expedia.com TM travel service (http://expedia.com/) was the most visited online travel service* for all three months of the second quarter of 1999, according to Media Metrix, the leader in Internet audience measurement.
Expedia.com leads the online travel industry with more than 4.2 million visitors to the travel site each month, accounting for 6.7 percent of all Internet users. This more than triples the number of visitors to the site as measured by Media Metrix for June 1998. The increase in visitors can be attributed to such services as Expedia.com exclusive travel offers, the introduction of the new Family Travel and Business Travel sections, and the nationally syndicated Expedia® Radio show.
“Consumers recognize Expedia.com as one of the easiest-to-use travel sites on the Web, and our commitment to helping them find the right trip at the right price is why we continue to see steady growth in our business,”
said Suzi LeVine, product manager for Expedia.com.
“Our No. 1 ranking on the Web is tremendous news for Expedia, our advertisers and our travel suppliers.”
