Microsoft Announces Executive Appointments and Promotions in Consumer & Commerce Group
REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 2, 1999 — Microsoft today announced the appointment of Rick Belluzzo as Group Vice President of its Consumer and Commerce Group. Belluzzo, previously CEO of Silicon Graphics, Inc., will work with Brad Chase and Jon DeVaan, who are being promoted to Senior Vice Presidents of CCG, to strengthen the company’s commitment to empowering individuals through Internet-based software and services.
Microsoft’s Consumer and Commerce Group is responsible for the company’s online properties, including the MSN network of Internet services and the number one travel, news and email sites on the Internet: Expedia, MSNBC and Hotmail. The group also manages WebTV and other consumer-oriented efforts.
Rick Belluzzo brings to Microsoft over 20 years of computer industry experience. As CEO of Silicon Graphics, Inc., he worked to extend the company’s reach into broader markets, managing the growth of a large and complex business in a highly competitive environment. Microsoft believes his knowledge and experience will help the Consumer and Commerce Group achieve its goal of providing consumers with the tools and services they need to take full advantage of the Internet.
