New TV Ad Communicates Microsoft’s Commitment to Innovation

REDMOND, Wash., Apr. 6, 2000 — Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is taking to the airwaves to talk about Microsoft’s commitment to innovation and building great products.

In a 30-second TV commercial that began airing Thursday night and will continue for a week, Gates tells viewers that
“our goal at Microsoft is to create the next generation of software, to keep innovating and improving what we can do for you.”

“We thought it was a good time for the American public to hear directly from Bill Gates about Microsoft’s vision for the future of technology,”
said Microsoft chief operating officer Bob Herbold.
“We wanted to emphasize to our customers that Microsoft is focused on innovation and building great products.”

According to Mike Delman, Microsoft’s general manager for advertising, this new ad is a great addition to the company’s ongoing corporate advertising.
“There’s no better person to talk about innovation than Bill Gates. Bill’s ad tells the story of how our products improve people’s lives, and our other ads show it.”

Twenty-five years ago, my friends and I started with nothing but an idea — that we could harness the power of the PC to improve people’s lives.

Since then, it’s become a tool that has transformed our economy and had a profound effect on how we live and how our children learn.

“Now our goal at Microsoft is to create the next generation of software, to keep innovating and improving what we can do for you. The best is yet to come.”
