New TV Ad Reinforces Microsoft’s Commitment to Innovation and Customers

REDMOND, Wash., April 27, 2000 — Microsoft is about to debut a new television ad featuring President and CEO Steve Ballmer and reinforcing the company’s commitment to serving its customers by continuing to create innovative software and services.

In a 30-second advertisement that will begin airing Sunday, April 30, Ballmer tells viewers that Microsoft is
“still focused on innovating, delivering value and listening to customers.”

“We think it’s important to communicate directly with the American people about the importance of the high-tech industry to our economy,”
said Microsoft spokesman Dan Leach.
“The company has been in the news a lot lately, and it’s important to be clear with our customers about what we stand for, and why we are working so hard to create next-generation software and services for them.”

When I joined Bill Gates and Microsoft 20 years ago, the PC was very new; this year, three people buy one every second.

Innovation is spreading through our economy. It’s creating new jobs; changing our lives; and helping children learn.
