REDMOND, Wash., and SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 9, 2000 — Cleanwave LLC, an Arizona-based provider of overnight pickup and delivery laundry services, today announced a joint effort with Microsoft Corp. to create the infrastructure for online order fulfillment of laundry services through its Web site, http://www.cleanwave.com/ .
Cleanwave’s site will be used to process orders for the pickup and delivery of laundry for customers in metropolitan areas across the country. With high-speed site-hosting capabilities, advanced computer technology, and Microsoft® applications and e-business platform, Cleanwave will facilitate and streamline services for its customers.
“There is a recent trend within the industry for companies to join forces as solution providers to simplify the process of online commerce,”
said Peter Ax, CEO of Cleanwave.
“Microsoft is the industry leader, and its platform will provide Cleanwave with the most superior system available for processing orders online.”
Microsoft added Data Dimensions Inc. into the cycle to test Cleanwave’s applications and Web site, ensuring a smooth process from a customer’s initial click of the mouse to the ultimate, hassle-free pickup and delivery of laundry. Microsoft has been utilizing the Web-testing expertise of Data Dimensions for a number of years to help its customers compete online.
“Together, Microsoft and our associates offer a broad range of services and solutions to meet any customer’s needs. From startups to large-enterprise dot-coms, the Microsoft platform provides the solution,”
said Peter Boit, vice president of e-commerce solutions at Microsoft.
“This is a great endorsement of our vision for the next generation of software and service applications and of our close cooperation with the e-business community.”
Customers in existing service areas can order laundry service through Cleanwave’s Web site or by calling a toll-free number (800) 488-5689. When placing an order, customers can choose from among a number of customized options to ensure their preferences are met on details such as the type of detergent, fabric softener and bleach. Customers can also arrange times and locations for pickup and delivery of their laundry. Cleanwave is currently being tested in Miami, with service expected to roll out to a number of other metropolitan areas over the next two years.
“Cleanwave has been a wonderful addition to my life,”
said Viviane Muxo, who makes arrangements every week to have her laundry picked up, washed and delivered back to her at the location she chooses.
“It’s easy to click on Cleanwave’s Web site to order laundry service. Now, instead of spending Sunday afternoons slaving over a washer and dryer, I’m working on my tan at the beach.”
Cleanwave is a limited liability company created by SpinCycle Inc., the nation’s largest owner and operator of high-quality, full-service laundromats, and Shell Chemical Co., a subsidiary of Shell Oil. It offers a user-friendly, timesaving alternative to in-home and traditional laundry care. The service includes pickup, washing, drying, folding and delivery of customers’ laundry, guaranteed within 24 hours. Dry cleaning service is also available with a 48-hour turnaround on orders.
