REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 26, 2001 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that leading enterprise independent software vendors (ISVs) have completed rigorous stress-tests to ensure optimal performance and scale for the complete range of hardware and software configurations qualified by the Microsoft® Windows® Datacenter Program. Business-critical applications from BMC Software Inc., CommVault Systems Inc., IBM Corp., Microsoft, NetIQ Corp., NSI Software, Onyx Software Corp., SAP AG and VERITAS Software have met intensive testing requirements to achieve the Certified for Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server status, as granted by independent third-party test lab VeriTest.
“Customers want the assurance of certified applications for their business-critical computing needs,”
said Peter Conway, senior director of the Windows .NET Server Solutions Group at Microsoft.
“Support from the industry’s leading ISVs acknowledges and affirms the value of certified applications to provide customers with the highest levels of reliability, availability and supportability as required in an enterprise-class computing environment.”
“IBM has worked closely with Microsoft to certify applications for the Windows Datacenter Program,”
said Jim Kelly, vice president of Data Management at IBM.
“We look forward to continually raising the bar with certified applications for the family of Windows Servers.”
Unlike other certification programs, applications for Windows 2000 Datacenter Server certification undergo intensive testing to achieve certification. Application developers submit their applications to VeriTest, an independent third-party test lab, for certification testing, which includes the following:
-
48-hour stress test on a 32 processor configuration
-
24-hour four-node cluster failover test
-
24×7 live technical support
In addition to currently certified applications, applications from Baan Company NV, Computer Associates International Inc., Crystal Decisions, FalconStor, Fincentric Corp., J.D. Edwards & Co., SAS Institute Inc. and Software AG are some that are now completing certification.
