Microsoft Announces Money Explorer; Corillian Signs On As Preferred Reseller

ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 11, 2001 — Today at BAIs Retail Delivery 2001 Conference, Microsoft Corp. announced Money Explorer, a browser-enabled product created specifically for the financial services industry. Combining the flexibility of Microsoft® Internet Explorer with Microsofts sophisticated personal financial management tools, Money Explorer enables financial institutions to provide their customers with improved online functionality and a best-of-breed customer offering.

Microsoft also today announced that Corillian Corp. (Nasdaq
“CORI”
), the leading provider of e-finance solutions to the top 100 U.S. banks, has signed on to be a preferred value-added reseller and integrator for Money Explorer. Corillian will provide customization and integration services with its Voyager 3.0 Internet banking platform.

Money Explorer offers a host of powerful personal financial management features and tools designed to help financial institutions deliver the next level of functionality to their customers, including personalized home pages and account management tools for banking clients. Built on an open, scalable platform, Money Explorer enables financial institutions to customize and brand the Web browser, including institution-specific layout, navigation and design. In addition, Money Explorer allows financial institutions to integrate their own content into the browser platform.

“Theres an opportunity in the financial services industry for technology to dramatically enhance customer relationships,”
said Erik Jorgensen, general manager for the Financial Products Group at Microsoft.
“Money Explorer exemplifies Microsofts commitment to delivering the tools and technology financial institutions need to attract and retain customers and strengthen this relationship in todays market.”

Money Explorer combines Internet Explorer with several of Microsofts award-winning financial tools from both the MSN® Money Web site and Microsoft Money software, thereby helping consumers save time and more easily manage their day-to-day finances. Specific features of Money Explorer include these:

  • Customizable home page. Financial institutions can offer customers this comprehensive home page of important money activities in one convenient place. Customers can select the content, features and functionality, including personalized financial priorities and daily to-do lists, that best meet their individual banking needs.

  • Accounts and bills. With instant account updates from their financial institution, customers can easily access their current financial information, view their latest transactions and quickly pay their bills to ensure they stay on top of their finances.

  • Financial planning. Money Explorer offers consumers an array of in-depth planning features and tools, including the ability to forecast cash flow, create and maintain a budget, plan for retirement, and more.

Money Explorer also implements Open Financial Exchange (OFX) technology, enabling the direct exchange of financial information via the Internet to support a wide range of financial activities including consumer banking, and bill payment and presentment within the browser. As a result of this automatic connection to the financial institution, the customers information is prefilled and always up to date in Money Explorer, offering a more simplified setup experience and helping ensure that account information is always current. With direct links to the financial institutions Web site, as well as MSN Money, Money Explorer allows customers to easily access the latest financial news and information.

“The Internet has become a vital tool in financial management, and Microsoft has become a leading provider of financial technologies for todays consumers,”
said Ted Spooner, CEO of Corillian.
“The combination of Microsoft Money Explorer and Corillians Voyager platform and its accompanying applications brings proven technology solutions to financial institutions, helping them provide customers with a customized Internet browser and a more personalized banking experience. This allows consumers to manage their finances wherever, whenever and however they choose. We call this Banking at the Speed of Life.”

In addition to integrating Money Explorer with its Voyager 3.0 Internet banking platform, Corillian also today announced plans to implement Microsofts subscription-based financial management service, currently code-named
“MSN Money Professional,”
into its Voyager platform for financial institutions. Announced last month at COMDEX Fall 2001,
“MSN Money Professional”
