January Silicon Valley Speaker Series Focuses on Future Of XML Web Services With Microsoft .NET: From Idea to Implementation

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 18, 2002 — On Wednesday, Jan. 23, Microsoft Corp.’s Silicon Valley Speaker Series will feature a panel discussion with executives from valley-based Web services companies and venture capital firms focusing on the development, adoption and implementation of XML Web services using Microsoft®
.NET. The panelists also will discuss how their companies have successfully deployed Web services and will describe their experiences with this technology, including an overview of the steps they took in evaluating and adopting Web services. In addition, the group will address the opportunity and direction for emerging businesses or startup companies to develop their core business as Web services.

Panelists will include David Ruiz, vice president of marketing for Avinon Inc.; Heidi Roizen, managing director of Mobius Venture Capital; Bob Hale, CEO of RioLabs Inc.; and Sky Basu, CEO of SpeeDEV Inc. The panel will be moderated by John Fernandes, business development director of .NET Emerging Business for Microsoft.

The speaker series, held monthly, is part lecture and part interactive forum in which company executives and industry observers address a variety of technologies, trends and topics in the fast-moving high-technology world.
