Microsoft Delivers Integrated Content Management and Portal Solution

REDMOND, Wash., May 9, 2002 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the availability of its Content Management Server and SharePoint™ Portal Server Integration Pack. The new offering provides customers with a comprehensive and well-integrated portal, content management, search and document management solution, giving Microsoft customers a single-vendor end-to-end solution for document collaboration and publishing that is fully supported by Microsoft® Product Support Services. Global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings Ltd. plans to use the offering to integrate its current Content Management Server and SharePoint Server solutions. The United Kingdom-based company expects to see enhanced productivity from business users and developers once the integrated deployment is complete.

“As a leading global insurance broker, Willis is delighted that Microsoft has integrated SharePoint Portal Server and Content Management Server,”
said Charles Stewart, group architect at Willis.
“We are already using SPS in our corporate intranet and will be implementing CMS for content management. The prebuilt integration between CMS and SPS will allow us to manage content throughout its life cycle, eliminating duplication and increasing content accuracy.”

Benefits of using the Content Management Server and SharePoint Server Integration Pack include the following:

  • Content can be managed efficiently and consistently throughout its life cycle.

  • Web publishing cycles are shortened by linking collaboration and publishing processes.

  • Seamless sharing of content between corporate Web sites and intranet portals eliminates duplication and increases accuracy.

  • Knowledge worker productivity is increased through visible and accessible Web Content Management publishing processes from within SharePoint.

The integration pack is available as a free download for MSDN® subscribers today at http://microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=38801 .
