Microsoft Windows Embedded Partners Recognized For Product And Service Excellence With North American Partner of the Year Awards

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 22, 2002 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the winners of the Windows Embedded North American Partner of the Year awards, which were presented during the Windows Embedded Partner Summit yesterday at the Windows Embedded Developer Conference 2002. The Partner of the Year awards recognize the expertise of industry partners in the embedded market that over the past year have helped bring a wide range of innovative Microsoft® Windows®
Powered devices to market. Windows Embedded partners were honored in categories ranging from Distributor to Systems Integrator and Silicon Vendor, highlighting the many types of partners Microsoft works with as part of the Windows Embedded ecosystem.

Windows Embedded partners play a key role in helping companies quickly deliver smart, next-generation devices to market by offering a range of products and services. These Partner of the Year award winners have a proven record of success in enabling customers to bring their devices to market quickly. Distributor

  • BSQUARE Corp. (Windows CE .NET). BSQUARE won Distributor of the Year for its continued leadership and innovation in support of Windows CE .NET while also developing new business opportunities on the Windows CE .NET platform.

  • Venturcom Inc. (Windows XP Embedded). Venturcom won Distributor of the Year honors for its innovation and expertise with Windows Embedded solutions, and for generating new business on the Windows XP Embedded platform.

  • Applied Data Systems Inc. (Windows CE .NET). Working with Windows CE .NET, ADS delivered the Bitsy development system for OEMs developing smart mobile devices, providing a direct impact to a key device category.

  • Arcom Control Systems Inc. (Windows XP Embedded). Arcom delivered ready-to-run hardware and software development kits resulting in innovative products in the communication and control markets.

Independent Software Vendor (ISV)

  • Macromedia Inc. (Windows CE .NET). Macromedia delivered its innovative Flash plug-in for the Windows CE .NET platform that empowers designers and developers to efficiently create and deliver engaging experiences on the Web.

  • Venturcom Inc. (Windows XP Embedded). Venturcom has developed innovative applications that augment Windows XP Embedded. Venturcom’s RTX technology addresses the need for mission-critical control and applications requiring real-time determinism.

Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)

  • ViewSonic Corp. (Windows CE .NET). ViewSonic is delivering a wide range of Windows Powered wireless, mobile devices ranging from Smart Displays to Web-pad devices aimed at vertical applications.

  • Wyse Technology Inc. (Windows XP Embedded) Wyse is a leader in the thin-client space and has delivered an innovative line of Windows-based terminals for use in corporate computing environments.

Systems Integrator (SI)

  • Intrinsyc Software Inc. (Windows CE .NET). Intrinsyc earned this award for its leadership role in helping accelerate the adoption of Microsoft .NET and the Windows CE .NET embedded operating system, and for helping numerous OEMs create next-generation, intelligent devices.

  • BSQUARE (Windows XP Embedded). BSQUARE received this award for its strategic OEM design engagements and its evangelism for the Windows Embedded platform.

Silicon Vendor (SV)

  • Intel Corp. (Windows CE .NET). Intel’s XScale line of application processors support a high level of design activity in products such as PDAs and smart displays. Intel provides valuable technical feedback through the collaboration announced in February to optimize Windows CE .NET for Intel PXA250 and Intel PXA210 applications processors based on the Intel XScale microarchitecture.

  • National Semiconductor Corp. (Windows XP Embedded). National Semiconductor has been working with OEMs to bring to market products such as thin clients and point-of-sale terminals using the latest in Windows XP Embedded technology running on National’s Geode product family of silicon solutions.

These awards highlight a strong year for the growth of the Windows Embedded Partner Program (WEP), which helps partners market their offerings to customers and helps customers find the products and solutions they are looking for. In the past year, participation in the WEP program has grown to include more than 1,600 partners in 55 countries worldwide, accounting for more than 700 product offerings for customers in the embedded industry.
