December Silicon Valley Speaker Series: “Microsoft’s Home and Retail Division — Developing Products to Enhance And Simplify Consumers’ Lives”

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 5, 2002 — On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Microsoft Corp.’s Silicon Valley Speaker Series will feature Lisa Brummel, corporate vice president of the Home and Retail Division at Microsoft, who will discuss the company’s vision and strategy for the Home and Retail Division as it celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The presentation will showcase the past, present and future of Microsoft’s consumer products. In addition, Brummel will elaborate on how customer feedback has influenced the growth and development of this diverse division, which creates software and hardware products for home consumers, including the following:

  • PC games

  • Software products for Macintosh

  • Mice and keyboards

  • Reference software

  • Personal productivity software

Brummel also will discuss how the division is developing broadband networking, intuitive software, and totally immersive gaming products and services, all of which empower consumers to do things they’ve never done before.
