MSN 8 Butterfly Squad Nationwide Tour Takes Flight

NEW YORK, Feb. 13, 2003 — They’ve been seen on television and fluttering about from Las Vegas to Superior, Wis. Today the MSN®
8 Butterfly Squad begins its journey from New York, soaring on a nationwide tour to celebrate the MSN 8 brand and theme,
“It’s better with the Butterfly.”
Teaming with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the colorful and dependable MSN 8 Butterfly Squad will make things better for Boys & Girls Club members and city residents through community service, free event tickets and the like.

In addition to New York, scheduled MSN 8 Butterfly Squad stops include Seattle and Los Angeles, with additional cities to be announced. In each city, the MSN 8 Butterfly Squad will identify ambitious Boys & Girls Club members who will become MSN 8 Honorary Butterflies for a day and accompany MSN 8 Butterfly Squad members as they perform good deeds and community service activities, such as visiting local children’s hospitals and distributing free high-profile event tickets and MSN giveaways to community residents.

The MSN 8 Butterfly Squad represents the new features and product benefits of MSN 8, the newest Internet software from Microsoft Corp. Launched in October 2002, MSN 8 offers consumers a better Web experience with advanced communication tools, better browsing capabilities, exceptional online safety features and enhanced parental controls.

In New York, members of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club received a behind-the-scenes look at the fashion industry. Members who submitted winning essays to a panel of judges were selected as Honorary Butterflies to accompany the MSN 8 Butterfly Squad to the star-studded Elisa Jimenez Fashion Show during Fashion Week. The Honorary Butterflies joined the MSN 8 Butterfly Squad in the front row for the show, then went backstage to interview Jimenez and other celebrities in attendance.

“The MSN 8 Butterfly Squad helped make things better for members of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club by making some fashion-industry dreams come true,”
said Kurt Aschermann, senior vice president of marketing and communications for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
“We’re excited about working with the MSN 8 Butterfly Squad as it continues across the country, supporting some of our other local chapters.”
